Operator is a community that helps you discover and buy the best products for you. Experts share products they’re passionate about and help you with whatever you’re shopping for, available for free on our app and Facebook Messenger.

What can I shop for?

Connect with experts in home goods, fashion, beauty, electronics, and more! Get anything for you and your home with free 1:1 personal shopping, and browse curated collections to get inspired.

When and where is Operator available?

Operator is available 24/7, everywhere in the United States. We plan to expand in the future—add us on Twitter, Facebook, or Medium to stay in the loop!

How much does it cost? Is it more expensive to use Operator than to shop on my own?

It’s free! The app is free, the service is free, there’s no added costs or fees, and you’ll always pay the same amount (or less!) on Operator as you would shopping on your own.

Do you always find the best price?

Our aim is always to find the best solution for your needs. If you want to stay within a certain price range, we’re happy to! We’ll always show the lowest price we find from merchants we trust, and if you find one of our recommended products at a lower price elsewhere, we’ll gladly refund the difference.

How does delivery work?

Once you make a purchase we monitor your delivery, send you any tracking links, update you when it arrives, and help with any exchanges or returns. From the app to your front door, we’ve got your back.

What if I'm not happy with my request?

We’re happy to help with returns, exchanges, price-matching, and more! We love finding solutions and hearing your feedback. If your experience ever falls short, just message Operator with what went wrong and we’ll make it right.

Purchases and Returns

Where do my purchases come from?

All the products on Operator are selected by experts from trusted merchants around the world. We don’t hold inventory, so you can shop the world on one easy platform, curated by the people who know best.

How will I receive order updates?

We provide estimated delivery timelines and shipping updates all within the app. We track orders closely on your behalf and will keep you apprised of any changes.

What if I need to exchange or return something?

Products purchased on Operator can be exchanged or returned within 30 days of delivery, in their original packaging and condition. Simply message Operator and we’ll provide you with a return label.

Refunds will be credited to your original payment method. Please allow 7-10 business days from the date you ship your return.

Certain made-to-order or customized products cannot be returned or exchanged. Your satisfaction is our top priority, and we will always clearly communicate any exceptions or restrictions to you prior to purchase.

Where a merchant’s return policies are more generous, we’re happy to accept returns beyond this policy. This represents the minimum, not the maximum, of accepted returns.

How do purchases work?

When you tap “I’ll Take It!”, you’ll enter your credit card number, billing ZIP code, and shipping address. We’ll handle the purchase and charge your card once your order is placed. You only have to enter your info once—after your first order, anything you want to buy is just a tap away.

We do not store your credit card information or share it with merchants; all payment processing is handled by Stripe using bank-level security. Other personal information, like your name and address, is used only as needed to place your orders.

Operator was co-founded by Robin Chan, a serial entrepreneur and angel investor in Xiaomi, Twitter, and Square; Garrett Camp, co-founder of Expa, Uber, and Stumbleupon; and Phil Fung, mobile engineering manager at Facebook.
